About SirsiDynix SirsiDynix Enterprise

SirsiDynix SirsiDynix Enterprise is a library searching product that uses facets to help patrons find library resources more quickly and easily within an electronic catalog. SirsiDynix Enterprise has three parts: a Searching interface where patrons search for library items, an administration tool (called the “Admin console”) to configure and customize the Searching interface, and an agent (called the “SirsiDynix Enterprise Agent”) that extracts and indexes data from your ILS server to use with both the Searching interface and the Admin console.

When patrons search using SirsiDynix Enterprise, they search library data that has been extracted from your ILS and indexed for searching purposes. These tasks are done using a background process called the Discovery Agent. You can define when and how often this extraction/index process takes place by configuring the Discovery Agent.

The communication between your ILS and the SirsiDynix Enterprise Agent will be set up for you by SirsiDynix personnel.

The Admin console allows you to set up and configure one or more Searching environments. (For example, if you have three different library branches and you want to set up a distinct Searching environment for each branch, you can define and configure each profile using the Admin console.) You can customize how a Searching environment displays, any library limits that are available to patrons, whether to display third-party content, and other settings.
