About Searching

Searching is the interface that displays to patrons so that they can search the library catalog. It allows them to search by any type of keyword and then quickly filter their results based on “facets” or categories such as author, library, subject, and publication date to find the desired library items.

Searching can integrate with your existing OPAC software to provide a searching layer. Users can also display Searching in different languages that have been installed.

The information that displays in the Searching interface comes from data that is extracted from your ILS database and indexed for use with SirsiDynix Enterprise. SirsiDynix Enterprise extracts data from certain bib and item tags to obtain the information that displays in Searching.

If you have enabled Symphony Web Services, Searching can also provide library users with access to their account information, including the management of account information, access to view and manage checkouts and holds, and the ability to pay fines remotely.
