Managing patron authentication

When you set up a profile, you have the option to make the profile secure by requiring some type of username and password credential. You can set up a single-credential login that requires only a username, or you can set up a dual-credential login that requires both a username and password. (For more information, see Setting up single-credential logins.) SirsiDynix Enterprise does not maintain patron account information. Rather, you define the path to a SIP, NCIP, or LDAP server, or to a SirsiDynix ILS through web services, that the patron authenticates against. These servers can be assigned to secured profiles so patrons can log in to view the content.

If you are using SirsiDynix Enterprise with accountability security, the SirsiDynix Symphony Web Services authentication server can provide accountability authentication for both patrons and administrators. Currently, it is the only authentication server that provides accountability security for SirsiDynix Enterprise.
