Deleting a media type
Use the Delete option for a media type to remove a media type you no longer want.
Media types delivered with SirsiDynix Portfolio cannot be deleted. For the delivered media types, the Delete icon is deactivated and cannot be selected. The External Link media type and the Unknown media type delivered with SirsiDynix Portfolio do not display in the Manage Media Types page, and cannot be removed.
If you remove a media type that is in use by digital assets that have attached files, the media type for those digital assets will be set to “Unknown,” and the Unknown media type icon displays for the digital assets in the search results list.
To remove a media type

Log in to the Admin console. |

Choose Manage Assets from the navigation pane. |

Choose Configure Asset Management. |
The Configure Asset Management page displays a menu of options.

Choose Manage Media Types. |
The Manage Media Types page displays and lists the media types that have already been defined for digital assets. (For information about the media types list, see Fields: Manage Media Types.)

Choose the Delete icon (  ) in the media type list for the media type you want to remove. |

A message similar to the following displays. |
Are you sure you want to delete media_type_name?
|

Do one of the following. |

Choose OK to confirm the deletion of the selected media type, and return to the Manage Media Types page. |
|
•
|
Choose Cancel to stop the deletion process, and return to the Manage Media Types page without removing the selected media type form the system. |
