Setting up Library Favorites for a search profile

Library Favorites are URLs that you define for a specific search profile. Once you define library favorite URLs, SirsiDynix Portfolio accesses those URLs, and then pulls and indexes data from those URLs to make available to patrons to search. To set up library favorites for a search profile, you must first set up the Library Favorites search target and then define the Library Favorite URLs that you want SirsiDynix Portfolio to crawl, index, and make available to patrons through Searching.

Library Favorites is a free subscription service. To sign up, contact your SirsiDynix Customer Support representative.

To set up library favorites

Choose Manage Profiles from the navigation pane.

Find the search profile for which you want to set up library favorites, then choose the Configure Search Targets option next to the profile information.

Set up the “Library Favorites” search target for this profile.

Choose OK to save your changes, or choose Cancel to discard your changes and return to Manage Profiles.

Choose Manage Library Favorites from the navigation pane.

Add or remove URLs from the Library Favorites list by completing the fields, as necessary. (For details, see Fields: Manage Library Favorites .)

Choose OK to save your changes, or choose Cancel to discard your changes and return to Manage Profiles.

Choose Manage Search Configuration > Manage Discovery Search Sources.

Choose the Edit option for the SD_LIB_FAVS search source.

Choose the Frequency for the full indexing of the Library Favorites. (For more information, see Fields: Add/Edit Discovery Search Sources .)

Once you have added URLs to the URL seed list, SirsiDynix Portfolio initiates a web crawler that browses the library favorite URLs, harvests the data, and prepares it for importing and indexing it at the scheduled interval you defined in the SD_LIV_FAVS search source. Depending on the number of URLs that you want to use as library favorites, the amount of data associated with each URL, and the amount of library favorite URLs submitted by other libraries, library favorites URLs may not begin appearing in patrons’ search results until after two months but could show up after the next scheduled indexing interval.
