Configuring the ILS settings for a child search field

In Enterprise, you use search fields to handle the processing of parent and child data from your ILS. For any child search fields, you can specify which subfield in the Symphony 999 or Horizon 949 tags corresponds to the ILS data. For any child field, you can specify the default ILS settings that determine the subfield and default value for any child record data (such as item or copy information).

If you add or edit a search field, or if you configure the ILS defaults for a child search field, you must re-index your data and refresh the Discovery search cache. Your changes are not reflected in Searching or the Admin console until you refresh the search cache. (For more information about refreshing the Discovery search cache, see Refreshing the search cache.)

By default, SirsiDynix Portfolio maps specific child search fields to specific data in the Symphony 999 and Horizon 949 tags. If there is no search field that corresponds to the data in a particular subfield, SirsiDynix Portfolio ignores that data. If you want, you can add additional search fields that correspond to subfields that are not already mapped by SirsiDynix Portfolio .

By default, Enterprise maps the data found in the 999 tag in Symphony to these subfields:

To configure ILS settings for a child search field

Choose Manage Search Configuration from the navigation pane.

Choose Manage Search Fields.

Choose the Configure ILS Defaults option next to the child search field for which you want to specify default ILS settings.

Complete the fields, as necessary. (For details, see Fields: Configure ILS Defaults.)

Choose OK to save your changes, or choose Cancel to discard your changes and return to Manage Search Fields.
