1. When is the library opening hours?

The opening hours of the Brunei Museums Department ‘s Library is:

Friday, Sunday & Public Holidays	Tutup

The library is CLOSED on Public Holidays and Special Holidays.

Library opening hours are subject to amendments

2. How to register as the library’s member? Is there any fee charges and what are the terms and conditions?

Registration as a member of the Brunei Museums Department’s Library is FREE. It is open to library staff of the Brunei Museums Department. They may apply for membership by filling out membership registration forms at the Membership Registration Counter or through online. The requirements for becoming a member of the library may be referred to the registration form, and the website of the library staff of the Museums Department.

3. How many books or materials that I can borrow? How to renew the loan periods for these loaned books or materials?

Only 5 materials/books can be borrowed for a period of one (1) MONTH, and 5 copies of journal for 2 WEEKS. The loan period can be renewed  directly at the borrowing counter or call 673-238167 before or on the date due for return.

Renewal of loaning period is not permitted if the materials have been booked by other users.

4. Are the Audio-Visual Aid Collection available for loan? What are the terms?

Users may borrow Audio-Visual Aid materials (CDs, VCDs, DVDs) provided that users are the registered members of the Brunei Museums Department’s Library. Borrowing is limited to 3 units of materials for 2 weeks.

5. Can a loaned book or material of the Brunei Museums Department’s Library is returned to its branch or other libraries which are under the e-library?

No. At present all books/materials must be returned to the library which lends the said book/material.

6. Can I find any information on materials/books at the Brunei Museums Department’s Library via internet?

Information on Materials/books can be searched using the Sirsidynix terminal provided in the library or via the internet.

How to use Sirsidynix:

• Type the title of the search material/book in the Search space
• Click Search

*Search can also be created using ISBN/Series Title/Author/Subject by changing Options.

7. What are other services available at the library?

There are various services available, namely:

• Borrowing and Returning ervices
• Photocopying services

8. Can I return a loaned book if the library is closed?

Users may return the books at the bookdrop provided at the library’s lobby when the library is closed. Currently, the bookdrop service is only available at the Brunei Museums Department’s Library.

9. How obtain information on local historical materials and maps of the districts in Brunei Darussalam?

Users may visit the portal or go directly to the Brunei Museums Department’s Library.

10. Who I can contact if I encounter any problems with the library services?

*For library materials borrowed from the Brunei Museums Department’s Library only. For any liibrary materials obtained from district or branch libraries, and under the Brunei’s e-library, therefore users need to recontact the library for further action.

11. I want to get information via internet. Does this facility available at the library?

This library provides multimedia only for the personnel of the Brunei Museums Department.

12. Does the library provide any halls or rooms for seminars, workshops, courses and other activities?

The Brunei Museums Department ‘s Library does not provide such facilities.
